The free franking mark of the Town of Longiano appears to show the patron saint of the place, Saint Christopher, carrying the Christ Child. The legend is that Saint Christopher carried the child across a river, and for that reason became the patron saint of travellers. The Greek word "Christophoros" means in fact "Christ-bearer". Longiano????  Near my home!!!  Moreover, I see that the letter is addressed to Savignano di Romagna (the old name of Savignano sul Rubicone, where I live).
