Hello mr. Xiaolin, in the Italian edition of Wikipedia there is a clear explanation of the origin and the meaning of the name of this town: Cita: Il termine Balneocaballum, citato nel X secolo, indicava il paleoalveo del Senio nel tratto che corrisponde all'odierna Via Albergone. In sostanza, il toponimo ricorda la presenza di un guado del fiume Senio in prossimità del primo agglomerato urbano, per attraversare il quale era necessario bagnare le cavalcature. This means that the name "Bagnacavallo" is referred to the crossing point of the Senio river: to do that, the horses get wet. This is the coat of arms: http://www.araldicacivica.it/comune-di-bagnacavallo-ra/ Best regards, Marco. |

If you can help … There is also a legend. The legend of Bagnacavallo: Once, in Roman times, Bagnacavallo called "Tiberiacum" .A day Tiberius, the Roman emperor, came to the country with his limping horse . He brought his horse into the waters of "Tiberiacum" and it came out healthy. From that day "Tiberiacum" was called BAGNACAVALLO (BATHING HORSE) . ![]() |
