Hello, I've find this italian letter for my topical exhibit ; the seller wrote : "1785 - da Volpiano a Torino viaggiata in contrabbando postale; presumibilmente, dopo essere stata intercettata la lettera รจ stata aperta e risigillata prima di venire consegnata al destinatario. Trattenuta il 18 Agosto 1785 - rilasciata all'avvocato Gaffodio il 19 agosto. Attiola (?) secretaro..." Is this description ok ? thank you

Hi, the description sounds OK, although one has to suppose the smuggling (however there is neither tax nor postmark: it might be smuggling).  Luca |
